SEC DATA / EXPLICIT SCOPE

The form you need.
The context it belongs to.

Browse reporting, ownership, offering, and fund filing metadata by form. Metadata datasets provide issuer queries and CSV exports. Imported Form D and insider archives provide cross-issuer source records through paginated JSON.

Two dataset scopes, stated explicitly.

The Form D and insider quarterly datasets query imported cross-issuer archives. For the38form metadata datasets, choose a reporting CIK and exact form. Available SEC history can be paginated and exported. Those metadata datasets are not prebuilt market-wide archives or parsed tables of every filing’s contents. For parsed ownership and holdings, use the dedicated products.

Directory and numeric-data exports

Beyond form metadata, the export API provides the current company ticker directory and paginated XBRL companyfacts observations. These retain identifiers, units, and source metadata.

Export endpoint and CSV behavior · Export reported facts with Python

Keep a paper trail with each export.

CSV responses expose source and retrieval headers, and paginated downloads expose the next offset. Save those headers beside the file. Each download is one page. If source snapshots change between pages, investigate before treating the combined result as a reproducible archive. Account quotas apply; source failures are returned explicitly.

The SEC also publishes free source APIs and bulk resources. Review the original filing when the meaning of a reported value or transaction matters.
