Dataset scope

Per-issuer filing metadata; available SEC history. Not a market-wide bulk archive. Choose a reporting entity’s CIK. An empty result is valid when that entity has no matching records; the examples do not claim every form exists for every company.

Query 20-F metadata

Set SEC_CIK to your selected reporting entity and SEC_API_KEY to an account key. This request selects an exact form value. To include amendments, make a separate request for the corresponding amended label and preserve both accessions.

Keep the response headers with the file. Follow X-Next-Offset to request later pages; an empty value ends the current result. Each download is one page, not a ZIP of every filing. JSON includes pagination and source metadata directly. A history cache may need warming; handle a retryable503 as an unavailable result, not an empty dataset.

Interpret this form correctly

Select the foreign issuer’s CIK; a domestic-company example may legitimately return no matching rows.

Useful columns include CIK, accession number, form, filing date, report date, primary document, and original document URL. Report dates can be absent. The document link is constructed from the source record and does not imply that the document’s contents have been independently verified.

Coverage and reproducibility

history=all follows the selected issuer’s referenced SEC supplemental files. Coverage is marked full after validation within source safeguards; it does not promise records absent from the SEC manifest. Preserve source URLs, retrieval time, stale flags, and snapshot identifiers. If the source refreshes between pages, offsets can shift; deduplicate accessions and inspect snapshot changes.
